Meet the Candidate

Assata, a Bertie County native and graduate of Bertie High School, completed her undergraduate education at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Assata went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law. She returned to her beloved eastern North Carolina after working for 1 year at the Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, DC. In eastern North Carolina she served as an assistant prosecutor for almost 17 years before deciding to put up her own shingle and serve this community as a private practitioner. Assata is currently working with the Edgecombe County District Office focusing on murder and other high level felony cases.  

 With 28 years of legal experience, Assata brings a wealth of experience, unwavering dedication, and a passion for upholding the principles of fairness and equality. Her legal expertise, coupled with a deep understanding of the complexities within our legal system, positions her as a formidable candidate dedicated to ensuring a fair and impartial judiciary.

In a statement, Assata Buffaloe emphasized the importance of a judiciary that serves the community with integrity. 

“Our community deserves a judiciary that is fair, just, and committed to upholding the principles of the law. I am passionate about contributing my skills and experience to ensure justice prevails for every citizen.” 

Assata is extremely excited and humbled by this opportunity to pursue such an important seat in the community. She invites the community to join her in this journey.
